BLOG SUMMARY #2

In my past blog entries, I have mostly written about my leisure as going out, such as birthday parties, weddings, dinners with my close friends and time spent with my family. A much as I do things outside my home I definitely enjoy relaxing in my bed or taking a nice bath. During my weekend away at Camp Kinkora, I could say that all around I had an OK time. I made new friends and had good company. Something I noticed about myself is that during this “trip”, I went outside of my element. I was encouraging others and stating my opinions. We were placed as a team to do these CRAZY activities that required someone to be blind, speechless and unable to walk. All that said, based on my personal opinion of how to find a solution to the “challenge” I was a leisure educator in giving them my opinions and demonstrating it with them. If it failed, I was then leisure educated by the others. This role went back and forth throughout the different activities we did. These activities were initially extrinsically motivated but in most cases they all became intrinsically motivated and very enjoyable. Therefore that is why I believe the weekend wasn’t so bad after all. It is clear that I value my friends when engaged in my own “leisure”. I guess for me, most of my leisure is spent with the people I care about and enjoy being around. Bering around positive and happy people makes me enjoy life that much more. Terms that I often use to express my leisure is “rendezvous”, good company, dinner, volunteering…. I appreciate the time I have in my life to pursuer leisurely activities. Without them I think I might go insane!

Country Living!!!

This past couple of weeks have been very afventurous for me!
A couple weeks ago i volunteered and worked for the summit school fundraiser! A good friend works for a women named Nadia Moretto and she deals with many of the charity events in the montreal area.
This weekend was insane!!! i am in Peter Morden's "Leisure Service Leadership class" AHSC 361, and we went to a camp called KimKora, anyne ever hear of it? ...either way i wasn;t really looking forward to it because i had sooo much work to do and would of rather been in a library!
but i decided to make the best of it, after all i was there for 48 hours! i really had a wonderfull time, i made some new friends and many great memories! It got hard at times but was a very positive couple of days. The best was at night when we all would sit around the fire and make and eat our smores mmmm....i love smores!
anyways, im sick and tired so im getting back to my readings! bye bye for now!

A LITTLE BIT OF THIS A LITTLE BIT OF THAT

Well, midterms are around the corner and i have been living at the Mcgill library. I enjoy studying here much more than Concordia because it's so much more quiet! Although i'm busy i found time last night to go for dinner with one of my friends who came in from Cornell University, she's studying Law and she really misses Montreal. She was telling me how school itself is great but the social scene is nothing like home. This got me thinking...maybe she's not looking at her options, i told her to look into social clubs and "touristy" things. After all she is new to the cit and if she doesn't get out more she won't meet anyone and therefore end up feeling bored and unhappy.
Either way we had a great dinner and good company!

Im at the library now as we speak to i'm going to get back to studying!
toodles

BLOG SUMMARY #1

For the past few weeks, i haven't blogged much and the blogging which i have done has been mainly minimal. I don't know why that is, maybe i'm just not used to writting my experiences down and talking about them for all to read.
I also haven't put up pictures like i said i would. Still haven't figured that one out yet!
Since this class begun one thing i have done is to think more about MY "leisure" like experiences which I have done. Since the begining of school i have been very leisurly. I have "worked" on my friends apt. which is not done yet ( I say work but it's enjoyable for me i really do love doing it), celebrated a few birthdays and weddings and gone to lots of movies as well as France. Reading design magazines and watching HGTV also fills up my time when i'm not running around doing other things.

I feel like the older you get the more time flies and its hard to "make time" for family and friends. With school, a job, a boyfriend , friends and family i feel as though im not dividing my time (&priorities) properly.
This class and the education/information that i am gaining about leisure is more frequent in my mind. I contemplate "should i do this?" with these friends or "would i rather do that?" with others? and think about whether these activities are leisurly? and if i'm not interested i just won't do it.
I definetly have suggested activities which we can do as a group such as "apple picking", which is different then a typical "rendez-vous" with my friends which entails dinner and good company...
Leisure to me is definetly "time consuming" but i strongly believe that everyone can make some time for leisure. It doesn't necessarily have to be an "outing" it can be two people talking for a couple hours over a good bottle of wine!
BYE BYE for now!

BACK INTO THE SWING OF THINGS...

So i've been home now for about a week and i am finally no longer jet lagged...
Over the weekend i went to the most amazing restaurant! and if your a vegetarian EVEN BETTER! its called Chychoy (ill get back to you guys on the spelling) and its located on St-Denis.(near rachel)
The reason why im raving about is because there is no meat whatsoever in the food. Although it might say beef and brocoli or chicken fried rice , its not!!! its all made with TOFU and natural ingredients! But it tastes and looks just like the real thing@!

Lots and lots of school work has been flooding my way but i will try and find time to go apple picking! hopefully the weekend coming up ill have a chance to go! i try and go at least once a year especially in sept or oct..the leaves are so pretty! it makes u want to live up north...

ttyl!!! (talk to u later)
