BLOG SUMMARY # 2

Over the course of the semester, my view on leisure education has changed. When i first thought about "blogging" i wasn't quite into it but as time went on i grew to appreciate my blog. Although i might have not written as much as the others i have enjoyed sharing my experiences with the class and hearing about theirs.
Everyday people complain about not having enough time do do things with one another due to the fact that either they work to much or have to much on their plate. The truth is , i used to think the same way until I took on this class and this "blog". If i try and make time for certain things and plan for them, I become able to follow through with them. I have partaken in several "activities" such as being a makeup model for one of my friends, learning how to make my boyfriends grandmothers famous meat sauce or even something crazy like the trapeze! i have done some pretty exiting leisurely activities that i would have maybe not done if i hadn't taken this class. I also found that when i was around a computer i would use it to post a quick blog about my ventures!
Keeping in mind that many leisure activities cost money there are things that people can do that are priceless. For example, my sister went to culinary school and i wanted to learn how to make these incredible cookies she makes, so one afternoon we made loads of cookies! She leisure educate me. I made sure to take notes not to forget any ingredient!
The following week, i went to my girlfriends house (her parents are out of town) and i showed her how to baked these delicious cookies! i leisure educated her as well as one of our other friends that happened to be there. She wants to bake these cookies for the chrismikah party shes having!
how much fun chrismikah!!! heheh
Either way, all in all, my view on leisure has definitely changed. I find that i am more appreciative of the time i spend with the people i care about such as my dad, mom and sister. I find that my eyes are just bit more wide open and i am on the lookout for fun things we can do together. I believe the next thing planned is as a family we will be going to a Habs game soon!
I enjoyed this class very much and will remember to stay adventurous!

I had never gone trapezing before in my whole life! this was a new leisure experience for me and i really enjoyed it.
i will talk more about it in class but to sum it all up I CANT MOVE! I AM IN SOOO MUCH PAIN but it was alll worth it!~!~~~

60s makeup!

One of my best friends Morgan is in Lasalle College studying to be a make-up artist!
She has always been good and has tried many things, i am so happy for her because she finally found something she loves to do and shes good at it!
She is in the last month of her program and is in the process of doing her port-folio..i was honored when she asked me to be her 60s model. the make-up from that era was extremely different than today. It looked sooo cool!
here is a picture of what morgans inspiration was for me

HAPPPPY HALLOWEEENNN!!!

In all my twenty two years, i have never been to an actual "halloween party" i know sad :( but i've always enjoyed my halloweens nonetheless. i remember going triker treating up until the age of 14..since then, but i find that everytime i have a chance i always end up going to my moms house and giving out candy to the little children! some of them are too adorable and i love seeing all of the childrens orignal costume ideas! The best was (well it was really funny im not mean i swear) when a little spiderman boy was standing at my door and turned around and started screaming at the top of his lungs! poor kid, he was so frightened by the "scary movie" mask that this older boy was wearing behind him...i felt bad but couldn't stop laughing :)
I hope everyone had a great weekend!

BLOG SUMMARY #2

In my past blog entries, I have mostly written about my leisure as going out, such as birthday parties, weddings, dinners with my close friends and time spent with my family. A much as I do things outside my home I definitely enjoy relaxing in my bed or taking a nice bath. During my weekend away at Camp Kinkora, I could say that all around I had an OK time. I made new friends and had good company. Something I noticed about myself is that during this “trip”, I went outside of my element. I was encouraging others and stating my opinions. We were placed as a team to do these CRAZY activities that required someone to be blind, speechless and unable to walk. All that said, based on my personal opinion of how to find a solution to the “challenge” I was a leisure educator in giving them my opinions and demonstrating it with them. If it failed, I was then leisure educated by the others. This role went back and forth throughout the different activities we did. These activities were initially extrinsically motivated but in most cases they all became intrinsically motivated and very enjoyable. Therefore that is why I believe the weekend wasn’t so bad after all. It is clear that I value my friends when engaged in my own “leisure”. I guess for me, most of my leisure is spent with the people I care about and enjoy being around. Bering around positive and happy people makes me enjoy life that much more. Terms that I often use to express my leisure is “rendezvous”, good company, dinner, volunteering…. I appreciate the time I have in my life to pursuer leisurely activities. Without them I think I might go insane!

Country Living!!!

This past couple of weeks have been very afventurous for me!
A couple weeks ago i volunteered and worked for the summit school fundraiser! A good friend works for a women named Nadia Moretto and she deals with many of the charity events in the montreal area.
This weekend was insane!!! i am in Peter Morden's "Leisure Service Leadership class" AHSC 361, and we went to a camp called KimKora, anyne ever hear of it? ...either way i wasn;t really looking forward to it because i had sooo much work to do and would of rather been in a library!
but i decided to make the best of it, after all i was there for 48 hours! i really had a wonderfull time, i made some new friends and many great memories! It got hard at times but was a very positive couple of days. The best was at night when we all would sit around the fire and make and eat our smores mmmm....i love smores!
anyways, im sick and tired so im getting back to my readings! bye bye for now!

A LITTLE BIT OF THIS A LITTLE BIT OF THAT

Well, midterms are around the corner and i have been living at the Mcgill library. I enjoy studying here much more than Concordia because it's so much more quiet! Although i'm busy i found time last night to go for dinner with one of my friends who came in from Cornell University, she's studying Law and she really misses Montreal. She was telling me how school itself is great but the social scene is nothing like home. This got me thinking...maybe she's not looking at her options, i told her to look into social clubs and "touristy" things. After all she is new to the cit and if she doesn't get out more she won't meet anyone and therefore end up feeling bored and unhappy.
Either way we had a great dinner and good company!

Im at the library now as we speak to i'm going to get back to studying!
toodles

BLOG SUMMARY #1

For the past few weeks, i haven't blogged much and the blogging which i have done has been mainly minimal. I don't know why that is, maybe i'm just not used to writting my experiences down and talking about them for all to read.
I also haven't put up pictures like i said i would. Still haven't figured that one out yet!
Since this class begun one thing i have done is to think more about MY "leisure" like experiences which I have done. Since the begining of school i have been very leisurly. I have "worked" on my friends apt. which is not done yet ( I say work but it's enjoyable for me i really do love doing it), celebrated a few birthdays and weddings and gone to lots of movies as well as France. Reading design magazines and watching HGTV also fills up my time when i'm not running around doing other things.

I feel like the older you get the more time flies and its hard to "make time" for family and friends. With school, a job, a boyfriend , friends and family i feel as though im not dividing my time (&priorities) properly.
This class and the education/information that i am gaining about leisure is more frequent in my mind. I contemplate "should i do this?" with these friends or "would i rather do that?" with others? and think about whether these activities are leisurly? and if i'm not interested i just won't do it.
I definetly have suggested activities which we can do as a group such as "apple picking", which is different then a typical "rendez-vous" with my friends which entails dinner and good company...
Leisure to me is definetly "time consuming" but i strongly believe that everyone can make some time for leisure. It doesn't necessarily have to be an "outing" it can be two people talking for a couple hours over a good bottle of wine!
BYE BYE for now!

BACK INTO THE SWING OF THINGS...

So i've been home now for about a week and i am finally no longer jet lagged...
Over the weekend i went to the most amazing restaurant! and if your a vegetarian EVEN BETTER! its called Chychoy (ill get back to you guys on the spelling) and its located on St-Denis.(near rachel)
The reason why im raving about is because there is no meat whatsoever in the food. Although it might say beef and brocoli or chicken fried rice , its not!!! its all made with TOFU and natural ingredients! But it tastes and looks just like the real thing@!

Lots and lots of school work has been flooding my way but i will try and find time to go apple picking! hopefully the weekend coming up ill have a chance to go! i try and go at least once a year especially in sept or oct..the leaves are so pretty! it makes u want to live up north...

ttyl!!! (talk to u later)

A little bit about me..

Hey Guys!
As you can see, I've named my blog Paisley Design. I'm sure your all wondering why...
Well, the truth is i am hoping to one day become a commercial designer. After this year (my last at Concordia) i am hoping to attend design school and hopefully open my own company. Ambitious? i know, people think I'm crazy for thinking so far ahead. But, i love it i love i love it!!!
So far, i have begun developing my portfolio. I have done a cigar lounge and am presently doing my friends apartment.
I'll post pictures soon!
